Marcia Ball (natural March 20, 1949) is an American blues singer and pianist born in Orange, Texas but who grew higher around Vinton, Louisiana. This equivalent vicinity spawned more Our contries blues greats, including Clifton Chenier, Janis Joplin, Lonnie Brooks, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Kenny Neal.

Natural into the musical personal, Ball began swimming piano at age V, & showed an early interest inside New Orleans style piano playing, every bit exemplified by Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, and James Booker. Inside 1970 at age 21, she began the progressive country b& called Freda and a Dog-iron inside Austin, Texas; in 1974 she began her solo career.

Ball is known for her piano style, which shows elements of zydeco, swamp blues and boogie woogie. Virtually all of her virtually all easily-known recordings come out in Rounder Records in the 1980s and early 1990s. She was inducted into a Austin Music Hall of Fame in 1990.
